Kosovo Albanians started reconstructing houses demolished in 1999

The reconstruction of the houses in Kroi i Vitakut burned by Serbs in 1999 began today on the bases of permit which was issued yesterday by EULEX and was supported by UNMIK. “EULEX is informed that tomorrow, Albanians will receive the required permission to start cleaning the two properties, in order to prepare the building site,” EULEX spokesperson Karin Lindmal said yesterday.
After few days of interruption, the construction work begun in presence of large concentrated forces of police and KFOR. Serb inhabitants have gathered again today to mark their rejection. Kosovo Police reported that there are no incidents.
Few citizens expressed their happiness that they were allowed to enter the area and they have requested that the rebuilding process not to be postponed further
