OSCE will not monitor Kosovo local elections

July 27 – The upcoming local elections in Kosovo will not be monitored by the OSCE because the organization has a neutral stance towards the Kosovo status. “OSCE can neither observe nor monitor elections because its mandate is solely on the institutional capacity building,” stated Edita Buçaj, the acting spokesperson of the OSCE mission in Kosovo.

This was made public few weeks after the opposition in Kosovo called publicly on the OSCE not only to monitor, but to also take executive role in the upcoming municipal elections.
